These scans were produced by Target on equipment supplied by Kodak. Unfortunately, the equipment leaves artifacts on some of the images, which show up as horizontal bars of a slightly different intensity or color cast. Both the Chattanooga and Knoxville race photos are affected, to varying degrees. Target had their equipment serviced and re-ran the Chattanooga images and the Philadephia images, but did not completely eliminate the problem. The artifacts do show up in prints from the images, and to a somewhat lesser degree in online displays.
